The February 2004 meeting of the Dallas IEEE/EMC Society was held at ITS, in Richardson, TX. on February 17th. Pizza was provided by ETS-Lindgren and soft drinks were provided by ITS. The meeting was opened by Mark Szewczul, Chapter President. The meeting began with the reading of the Minutes from the January 2004 meeting. Glenn Watkins, Director of Marketing for ETS-Lindgren, introduced the company and presented some of the company history and some of the current divisions and products. Dr. Vince Rodriquez with ETS-Lindgren presented a detailed presentation on the types and uses of EMC chambers. Dr. Rodriguez described the types of absorbing materials that are used in anechoic chambers and the theory behind each type. He then described the characteristics of shielded rooms and their applications to CISPR 25, MIL Std 461, and DO-160 testing. The benefits of rectangular and tapered section chambers was discussed and some details on the measuring of RCS was presented. After the presentation, Mr. Glenn Watkins held a drawing. Many items were given away. Some were quite unique. There were 26 attendees, 22 IEEE members and 5 non-member. Refreshments were served from 6 until 7 PM. The meeting started about 7:05 PM and adjourned at 8:15 PM. Submitted by John Schroeder |
