Dr. Cheung-Wei Lam, EMC-S Distinguished Lecturer and January guest speaker, discusses PC board stackup and placement, one aspect of the presentation.

During his presentation, he discussed design concepts, in particular transmission line effects, noise mechanisms, current return paths, how circuits behave as antennas, and how ground inductance affects circuit performance and radiated emissions. His presentation graphics vividly demonstrated effects of termination on stripline and microstrip performance. He very effectively condensed a very large degree of subject matter into a one-hour presentation.

The meeting was held at NEMKO, Lewisville TX and NEMKO provided refreshments of pizza and soft drinks prior to the meeting.  There were 34 attendees at the January meeting, 16 IEEE members and 18 non-IEEE members, including 3 new attendees.  The door prize, an all-purpose hand tool provided by Ansoft, was won by William Lumpkins.
